Information Design/Exercise 1: Quantify Data

Quantify Objects

Quantify (count) the choosen items and arrange the objects into a presentable layout or chart.

We collect DATA (items), SORT it with colour or pattern, ARRANGE it and PRESENT it VISUALLY from less to more. We also can explain it with a story.

Requirements:
Information must be presented as is. Are required to arrange the objects with relevant indicators written out with pen to help visualize the quantity and data.

Option 1: Jar of stuffs
Find a jar with similar contents like buttons, candles, coins etc, and sort the items accordingly.

Option 2: Emergency bug out bag
A bug out bag is a survival kit filled with essentials that can help you get through a variety of emergency scenarios. Filled up a bag for own self with essential items (items that can find with at the moment! No need to buy new ones!) you'd need to survive for at least 72 hours in cases like these.

For students that go for f2f class, we just have option 1 to choose. However, we also can choose between legos and buttons.

I had attended the f2f class, so I choose a green legos pack.

Fig 1.1 Exercise 1

This is the result after I done it step by step from data to explain it with a story.

Data: Choosen Legos pack
Sorted: I sort them out with colour
Arranged: I arranged them with types of brick for record the quantity
Presented Visually: For the beginning, I want to present them seperately with their types and colour. After a moment of thinking, I decided to make them be what legos will be.
Explained it with a story:
Transparent Bright Green - High Building
Spring Yellowish Green - Square Building
Bright Yelloish Green - Cushion?
Bright Green - Lawn
Dark Green - Warship
Earth Green - Roof

All the data written on paper, is refer on Brickset home page | Brickset: LEGO set guide and database.
