RECAP:

Final Project:Visual Analysis and Final Blog is about what we learnt on past weeks (Week 01~ Week 10). For visual analysis, we are required to utilise what we understand of design principles found in design work. We need to assess, investigate, document and analyse a design materialof our choice. We should notice, size, placement, purpose, effectiveness, as well as aspects of design principles found in that work we choice.

Therefore, we are going to produce a work of design, inspired/influenced by the one we studied on, or as a reaction to it. They should also apply knowledge of design principles in our design.

VISUAL ANALYSIS:

Fig 1.1 Poster that I Choose

This is a artwork I found on pinterest, link: Glitch x Subjekt Zero : Swordbreaker on Behance. This ia a personate Gundam artwork. As known, Gundam is a huge robot that driven by people. But in this artwork, Gundam is in a people's size. From previous blog, I noted that I love futuristic/cyberpunk stlye design so a Gundam person fascinate me because I believe that we will have this tech in the future.

In this artwork, I found color contrast and color harmony.

DESIGN:

Fig 2.1 Head Sketch

For the head, I combine different type of elements from Japan's Anime/Tokusatsu (SFX) show such as Kamen Rider, Ultraman and Gundam.

Fig 2.2 Head Outcome

For Ultraman's elements, it will be the yellow piece-horn and the green gem.

Fig 2.3 Reference (Ultraman Zero)

For Kamen Rider's elements, it will be red horn and linear design thing.

Fig 2.4 Reference (Kamen Rider Zero One)

And the others, all is referring to Gundam's.

Fig 2.5 Upper Body

For the shirt, I choose the same type as the artwork. This hoodie is a real hoodie that I have. I'm just change the word and add a logo. The sword is exactly the same sword as the artwork, but it is rised up.

Fig 2.7 Lower Body

For lower body, all also have reference in real life.

Fig 2.11 Neon Effect Ring

Instructions of doing Neon Ring:
1. Create an ellipse with 12px white stroke not fill
2. Expand it (just tick stroke)
3. Set a 120px offset path and ungroup
4. The offset path cahnge to black colour
5. Blend them.
6. Open Transparency window (Shift + Ctrl + F10) and set to Color Dodge

Fig 2.12 Shadow

This shadow will be in front of the character to match shadow effect that neon ring is behind, and the purple shadow is to match neon ring's colour.
The big shadow's colour is black, its opacity is 30% and have 100px Gaussian Blur.
The purple shadow also have 100px Gaussian Blur but opacity is 100%.

And this is the final outcome.

Fig 3.1 Final Outcome

For this desgin, I do it like this because of my thinkings of future. Neon lights is the most thing that represent futuristic. Gundam is robot, robot also represent future because robot may replace many industry in future. And the style for the apparels (military/工装 style or can called many pockets style) also represent future's fashion. All those represent my strong thinking of future.
