PROGRESSION:

-Week 5 (24/09/2021)

  1. Watch the pre-recorded video.
  2. Find out the text in facebook group.
  3. Choose one topic and start sketching the headline.
My ideas:

After thinking, I choose no.1 and start digitalized it.

After that, I start working in InDesign.

Fig 2.3 | Headline & Lead-in Text | Week 5 (24/09/2021)

I let lead-in text's background turned black for making a contrast between headline.

* I realized lead-in text is not sub-heading in week 6

-Week 6 (01/10/2021)

This week, I wanted to try another headline design, the no.3.

Fig 3.1 | Digitalized NO.3's Headline | Week 6 (01/10/2021)

As my thought, I think this is better that no.1's. So. I work again in InDesign. I figured out that my no.1's is focusing on "IMPACT" and "MODERN CULTURE" not "BAUHAUS", and two focus point will confusing the reader. Meanwhile, the typestting is too normal don't have any things that catch reader's eyes and of course, the lead-in text. Therefore, I do it all again.

For margins and columns, I set the columns to 3 each page.

Rotation Angle: B ( 45° ) , U1 ( -15° ) , A2 ( 23° ) , U2 ( 15° )
*These words is just for illustration purpose, so I don't follow the 10 typefaces.

Also, I add two line on the beginning and the end of the text.
For result, I like no.3's more than no.1's, so I will have no.3's as my final submission.

Final Task 2: Typographic Exploration & Communication Submission

FEEDBACK:

Week 6
General Feedback
-Use the 10 Typefaces given before
-Look your own design as someone that doesn't know design looking at it

Specific Feedback
-Lead-in text is not sub-heading
-Export must follow the video's instructions

REFLECTIONS:

I learnt that the combination/typesetting of words and graphic will affect the view of viewer. A good combonation will makes the outcome looks good and an unsuitable combination will let the viewer have a thinking of "it's something wierd".

FURTHER READINGS:

I have some research on Bauhaus for letting me start designing.

*The Bauhaus emblem, designed by Oskar Schlemmer, was adopted in 1921.
