Digital Photography and Imaging - Week 4

LECTURE:

Today's lecture is talking about adjustment layer & filters. We start learning through using Photoshop with Mr. Martin as last week.

Adjustment layer: a group of a super useful, non-destructive image editing tools that add color and tonal adjustments to your image without permanently changing its pixels.
  • Brightness / Contrast: makes adjustments to the tonal range of image
  • Level: modify the tonal values in an image by adjusting the levels of the shadows, midtones, and highlights
  • Curves: adjust many points throughout the entire tonal range of image
  • Exposure: adjust exposure levels with three sliders: Exposure (adjust hightlight of the image) , Offset ( adjust the mid tones ) and Gamma ( adjust the dark tones )
  • Selective Color: selectively modifies the amount of a primary color without modifyingg the other primary colors
Filters: an essential element of Adobe's graphics editor.
  • colour changes
  • blur adding
  • create completely new image effects
Photoshop offers a virtually unlimited variety of filters for this purpose.
