LECTURE:

Today's lecture is introducing us the BASIC COMPOSITION, RULE OF THIRD & GOLDEN RATIO.

Basic Composition:

  • Focal Point- Catch viewer's Eyes
  • Scale & Hierarchy- drawing attention toward and away from certain elements
  • Balance the Elements- "each elements have a 'weight' to it"
  • White Space- balance up the main focus & boost design's clarity & balancing out from the complicated part
Rule of Third:
  • the process dividing image into nine parts with four intersection points
  • is a way to:
    • use composition techniques that are in line with what's naturally pleasing to the eye
    • creative;y use negative space
    • create conversation between the subject and background
Golden Ratio: a mathematical ratio that commonly found in nature, and when used in a design, it fosters organic and natural-looking compositions that are aesthetically pleasing to the eye.
